As UCC Fort Lauderdale celebrates our 70th anniversary, we are excited and hopeful to see where God is leading us into the next 70 years of our life together. As we look toward the future, the Legacy Campaign is an opportunity for us to invest in the campus and ministries of this beloved congregation as we continue to serve our neighbors, grow in faith, and welcome all into our sacred space.

$626,000 Goal by January of 2027

Our Campus Goal: $406,000
Our historic sanctuary, Elliott Hall, administrative wing, and grounds are all in need of significant investments and repair. Your gifts will help us remodel the sanctuary bathrooms and make them ADA compliant, replace a number of major kitchen appliances that we use to serve our Ruth Ministry guests, create landscaping that is beautiful and inviting, and replace our campus doors to keep our building cool and safe.
Staff Goal: $100,000
As we seek to be good stewards of our building and use it to serve our community, we are in need of a facility maintenance manager. This staff position will oversee our property, manager building projects and maintenance, and work with our renters to ensure we are meeting their needs. This portion of the Legacy Campaign will fund a part time position at $50,000 a year for two years.
Music Goal: $30,000
We so often hear that our beloved organ is one of the main reasons why people come to worship at our church! And the organ is in need of a number of repairs to the pipes so that it can play to its full strength. Your gift will help fully restore our organ and make our music program even more spectacular.
Technology upgrades Goal: $28,000
This investment will provide new computers, software, and conference room equipment for our administrative and education wing. These upgrades will help us more efficiently serve our congregation and community and provide better technology for classes and workshops.
Community Partnerships Goal: $57,000
At UCC Fort Lauderdale, we believe that we can’t do the work of ministry alone. That’s why we will be investing 10% of our Legacy Campaign into the ministries of local and national organizations that share our values and our call to justice. These organizations include the national office of the UCC as well as the Florida Conference, the Open and Affirming Coalition, and BOLD Justice.

Transfer Stock or Mutual Fund Shares:
Transfer stock shares or mutual fund shares from your investment portfolio. This is a good way to give appreciated stock that you may have wanted to reduce in your portfolio. You can gift shares by transferring the shares directly to the church’s investment account with United Church Funds and avoid paying capital gains on those shares as well as have a charitable deduction for your gift. If you sold the shares yourself you would end up paying capital gains on the sale. If you donate the shares and have the Church sell the shares, you avoid paying capital gains! This maximizes your tax savings while allowing you to make a charitable contribution, a win-win for everyone. Talk to your accountant for tax related details.

If you would like to donate this way, click here: https://ucfunds.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/2024_Stock-Donation-Form_FINAL.pdf to download a Donation form that will need to be completed and sent to United Church Funds.
Gift your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD):
If you are subject to a RMD (required minimum distribution) each year on your IRA, you can have that distribution go directly to the church and avoid paying taxes on the distribution. This is called a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) and can be made using your Traditional IRA, SEP, Inherited IRA, SIMPLE plan or even a ROTH IRA. The annual QCD limit is $100,000 per account owner. This gift is not a charitable deduction for taxpayers but allows the donor to exclude the amount from taxable income on their income taxes. Please see your tax advisor or financial advisor for details.
If you have any questions about the campaign or would like to speak about your gift, please be in contact with Pastor Aaron (pastor@uccftl.org) or our Treasurer Don Hart (treasurer@uccftl.org)
